How old were you when you “came out”?
I came out at age 40, after begin an active struggle with my sexuality at about age 32. I was married, with two children, and I felt that I risked losing family, friends and career, so the choice was quite difficult.

For all the writing I’ve done, it did just dawn on me that I’ve never talked about my own coming out. I’ve done stories on people coming out, read some of my friend’s own coming out stories, and never written about my own. Haven’t a clue on why, either.

We know for sure, how difficult it can be for many people to come out as gay to both their friends, family, school, at work or in the association in which you are active. We want with this page of articles to help illuminate the problems and how difficult it can be.
